Safe Haven for Angels

It’s cancer,
Letting you in these doors;
Letting you speak.
You
Have spoken
Far too much.

Your words
Choke the life from angels,
Leave bloody feathers on the floor.
Your words
Are war.
Against every
Good and beautiful thing.

You’ve made runaways and prostitutes
Of your children.
Shackled the infirm to your doors;

No.
Your words are not welcome here.
This place is holy,
And your feet
Are far too deceptively clean.
This place,
This
Heart,
Is a temple for the broken.
Is a brightly painted welcome sign
For the unclean.

I keep the sheltered safe,
From wolves
And ghosts
Like you.

And you
Ought show yourself
To the door.

About Z.

Poetic pipe and cigar enthusiast rifling through the haunted memories of a not so distant past while openly wrestling with faith and God. A rambling writer with the misguided notion that he has something to say. His only redeeming qualities are his wife and children.
